Lighter, Quicker Braxton Miller Looking To Showcase His WR Development

MOBILE, Ala. – The quarterbacks always invite attention at Senior Bowl practice each January, particularly this year with North Dakota State's Carson Wentz drawing early early-round projections from draft observers.

One player catching passes from Wentz and three other North quarterbacks this week just happens to be a former high-profile college quarterback himself, and possibly a sleeper in the 2016 draft.

Coached by the Cowboys this week, Braxton Miller will spend the week showcasing his ongoing development at wide receiver to the league's 32 teams.

A three-year starting quarterback at Ohio State, Miller made the position switch as a redshirt senior coming off a shoulder injury that cost him the entire 2014 season. In 2015 he caught 26 passes for 341 yards and three touchdowns and added 42 carries from the backfield for 281 yards and a touchdown.

He's looking to show his versatility in Mobile – playing inside, outside, even returning punts if asked.

"Whatever they need, I'm going to bring it to the table," he said.

Miller said he's working on his technique to beat man-to-man coverage on the outside. He also said he has benefited from a lighter playing weight since midseason with the Buckeyes. He's down to 204 from about 210.

"That's perfect for me," he said. "My legs feel fresh. I feel more explosive like this and more powerful."
