Cowboys Expected To Hold Workout With Free Agent Linebackers

OXNARD, Calif. – With thinning depth at linebacker as training camp begins, the Cowboys are expected to hold a scheduled workout with free agent linebackers Darius Eubanks and Henoc Muamba.

The Cowboys have two exemptions on their 90-man camp roster with defensive end Randy Gregory and linebacker Rolando McClain set to go on the Reserve/Did Not Report list. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said the team would likely hold workouts Saturday with help at linebacker in mind.

Eubanks spent time on the Cowboys' and Buccaneers' practice squads last season. Tampa Bay waived him in April. Muamba has played for the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Montreal Alouettes. He played in 13 games for the Colts in 2014, making six tackles.

McClain, the Cowboys' starting middle linebacker the last two seasons, did not travel with the team to Oxnard on Thursday. He's facing a 10-game NFL suspension but is eligible to practice and play in preseason.

Second-year linebacker Damien Wilson will begin camp on the non-football injury (NFI) list with an eye injury. Rookie linebacker Jaylon Smith, the team's second-round pick, also will be placed on NFI as he continues to recover from the knee injury he suffered in his final college game at Notre Dame.
