With Cowboys Needing More Rush, Crawford Anticipating Playing More DE

FRISCO, Texas – The difference between a bus and a butterfly.

That's the way Tyrone Crawford described the feeling of his body after playing defensive tackle and then moving out to end. Getting hit by a bus on every play compared to a butterfly sounds like the good part of the switch he made last week.

While Crawford said learning his assignment on every play will take some adjustment, he is preparing even harder this week, considering he expects to be used even more at left defensive end this week against the Bears.

Looking for more pass rush, the Cowboys moved Crawford out there in the middle of Sunday's win over the Redskins. He played the entire second half there and is anticipating staying there this week.

[embeddedad0]"For me, being there before … the first couple of reps were a little slow," Crawford said. "The only other thing that slowed me down was just trying to remember the assignment."

Crawford, who was able to get his first sack of the season, could start at left end this week opposite Benson Mayowa. The Cowboys have the luxury of moving Crawford out of the tackle spot because of the play of Terrell McClain, who could start at the 1-technique and Cedric Thornton would slide to the 3-technique.

"You guys know what happens to me every single season. I play the whole line, every single year," Crawford said. "It happens. If we don't have enough at one position and they need me to go out there, I'm always down to do it."

Especially if he can actually get some practice reps at end, something he didn't get last week.

"I just went out there," he said. "I think it'll get better this week."
