Blog: Inside Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue's Epic Halftime Show at AT&T Stadium

The Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue Dancers presented by Miller Lite helped officially kick off the season with an awe-inspiring halftime performance worthy of the greatest sports venue in the world.

When AT&T Stadium opened its doors in 2009, two of the marquee additions to the fan experience of the grand venue were the mammoth HD video screen above the playing field and the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue Dancers.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has said that his inspiration for the massive HD video board came from watching a Celine Dion concert at Caeser's Palace in Las Vegas.
In the team's first halftime performance on the field of the $1.2 billion football palace, the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue Dancers put on a show that carried the spectacle of a Vegas production and was emblazoned across the video board for the 93,183 fans at the stadium and the over 24 million watching across America on NBC's Sunday Night Football.

The eight-minute presentation starring the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue Dancers featured over 100 performers across the field. The Kinjaz from NBC's hit show World of Dance, the Super CR3W, Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue Drumline, NextStep Dance and the Officials, Dallas Cowboys Rookie Squad and Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders were all a part of the show that was titled the "Back to Football Halftime."

The show was directed and produced by Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue Director Jenny Durbin Smith. It was her first halftime show production for the Dallas Cowboys and the first halftime show presented by the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm and Blue Dancers.

"My inspiration came from the passion, energy and uniqueness that the DCRB Dancers share with fans every game day," Durbin Smith said. "As a team we are committed to being innovative and bringing something special to each fan's Dallas Cowboys experience.

"I think this halftime show was an extension of that on a grander scale," she continued. "DCRB headlining the halftime show with the Kinjaz and Super Cr3w created a moment that our team will always cherish."

Multiple rehearsals leading up to game day were followed by multiple rehearsals on Sunday afternoon before the prime time contest between America's Team and the New York Giants.

One might think that the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue Dancers might rest up before their big show on one of the biggest stages in the world, but they have become an integral part of the pre-game entertainment at Cowboys home games and they were present on the plaza stages and the Miller Lite Landing performing for the fans.

In what felt like a case of the stars aligning in a perfect rhythm, the Cowboys took a 16-0 lead into halftime. Little did they know, but the fans who were already in good spirits were about to be wowed.

The show began with the words: "Ladies and gentlemen, the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue Dancers presented by Miller Lite bring you the Back to Football Halftime" and the fun was underway.

Fans inside the Miller Lite Club were glued directly up to the giant screen above the field and cheered on the dancers with such passion that it felt as if the game was still going on.

"I am beyond proud of the DCRB and everyone who helped make the show a success," Durbin Smith said. "It was better than I could have imagined and I'm honored to have been able to direct so many talented dancers on one of the world's biggest stages. With the cheers and applause from the thousands of fans at the end of the show, it's safe to say it was a crowd pleaser!"

The fact that the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue Dancers were awarded this opportunity to host their own halftime extravaganza and during one of the biggest games of the season is a testament to the talent all of the dancers who have been a part of this team over its existence that culminated with this year's amazing team and essentially a fitting celebration of how popular they have become with the Cowboys' fan base.
