Winning games typically leads to other honors. The Cowboys have yet again won a weekly award as Brett Maher was named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the Bucs last Sunday.
Maher not only made two field goals and three extra points, but connected on a 59-yard field goal before halftime. It's the second-longest kick in Cowboys history, behind only the 62-yard field goal Maher drilled a few weeks earlier against the Eagles.
It's the second time this year Maher has won this honor, becoming the first Cowboys kicker in 15 years to win it twice in a season, joining Billy Cundiff in 2003. Maher is the first player to win Special Teams Player of the Week twice in a season since Dwayne Harris won it twice in 2013.

This year, the Cowboys have now won five NFC Player of the Week honors. Maher has won two on Special Teams, Amari Cooper has won the Offensive award twice and Leighton Vander Esch took home the defensive honor last month.
This is another positive note this year for Maher, who has made 29 of 35 field goals in his first season with the Cowboys. He is also 6 of 7 on attempts of 50 yards or more.
