CeeDee Lamb talks Micah Parsons trade, Week 1 matchup vs. Eagles

FRISCO, Texas – One of the main talking points heading into the Cowboys season opener is something that will have no impact on the game Thursday night: Micah Parsons' trade.

On Monday, Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb spoke for the first time about his reaction to the news from last week.

"That's my dog, man," Lamb said. "He knows it. I expressed it to him just about every week I could, so I feel like he knows where we stand as far as brotherhood, friendship, and all that. I'm obviously wishing him the best. Hope he has the best season ever."

"He's Micah Parsons, you know what I'm saying? He's unblockable, he's unstoppable, hope he terrorizes those guys over there."

On September 28, when Parsons and the Packers come to AT&T Stadium to play the Cowboys in Week 4, Lamb hopes Parsons doesn't terrorize his former team.

"The worst," Lamb said when asked what Parsons' return on the other sideline in Week 4 would be like. "It's going to be weird, it's going to be conflicting, and I hope he is not in the backfield in two seconds."

A year ago, Lamb was in a similar situation in terms of seeking a contract extension with the Cowboys. The main difference was he held out of training camp, but nonetheless understands the difficulties of the negotiation process.

"You only can go off your own experience and a lot of people won't even realize half of what's going on, and I understand you want to think about the team, you want to think about everything else, but man you've got to take care of your family first," Lamb said. "This is his first big contract, and I feel like he needs to get everything he deserves, and he did."

With Parsons gone, the Cowboys still have a game to play on Thursday against the reigning Super Bowl champions and their attention is solely fixed on that. For the first time in his career, Lamb will take the field with a "C" on his chest after being named captain on Sunday.

"That's surreal," Lamb said. "I didn't think it was real until he gave me the patch, honestly. I've always wanted one for sure, and to lead the troops and for those guys to really trust in me, and that speaks volumes of the organization, they believe in me and my ability to lead. I'm going to take it and run with it."

It'll also be the first time he takes the field with his new teammate George Pickens, and it's safe to say he's looking forward to it.

"I'm very excited, I can't even put it into words…" Lamb said. "We got to go out there and do what we do every day as we've been doing and just continue that on throughout the season and never really get complacent or too excited about the moment that we're embracing."

The Eagles secondary lost some pieces in the offseason, namely in veterans Darius Slay and C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Still, Lamb knows that defensive coordinator Vic Fangio's younger group is one that runs his scheme well and the Cowboys need to be ready.

"We're very familiar with those guys and Vic Fangio," Lamb said. "I've played them, this would be my third and fourth time this year. His defensive scheme doesn't really change much. He does a great job of really just combo-ing receivers and seeing the tendencies that we run and try to adapt off them. As for us, we just got to gout there and prepare and play fast."

Before the game, Philadelphia will raise their Super Bowl LIX banner at Lincoln Financial Field. Lamb doesn't want to miss it.

"I'm gonna watch it." Lamb said.

Why?

"Motivation."
