FRISCO, Texas – In their season opener against the Eagles, the Cowboys fell to the defending Super Bowl champions 24-20.

Dallas had their opportunities to grow or regain their lead down the stretch but ultimately couldn't take advantage of anything to put them in front when the clock struck zero.

Brian Schottenheimer is taking no moral victories in the one score loss to Philadelphia when plenty had counted the Cowboys out. There are positives to build off of, but the negative is the team started the year off 0-1.

Here's a look at some more of the telling numbers from Thursday night:

0

There's good news and bad news with the number zero from this game. The good news is that Dallas' offensive line gave up no sacks over the course of the night on Dak Prescott, although he did escape a couple. The bad news is that the Cowboys offense scored zero points in the second half, which ended up leading to the four-point loss.

After Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley had a lot of success running the football in the first half of the game, Dallas' defense started to find their footing in the run game in the second half. The fourth quarter was their best performance against the run in quite some time, as they allowed just six yards on 13 carries between Hurts and Barkley in the final frame.

7

After a full week of practice, the Cowboys were able to bring Trevon Diggs back out into the field in the secondary, albeit it on somewhat of a pitch count with 26 snaps on Thursday night. Still, he made an impact as he wasn't targeted at all over the course of the evening.

12

The Cowboys' defense registered 12 run stuffs against Philadelphia's rushing attack on Thursday night. Kenny Clark, Solomon Thomas and Sam Williams each led the way with two stuffs a piece.

16.7%

Dallas pass rush only registered one sack, but was able to collapse the pocket and make Jalen Hurts uncomfortable on occasion throughout the night. Both Sam Williams and Dante Fowler had a 16.7% QB pressure rate on Thursday. Williams' positive pass rush rate came in at 78.3%, and Fowler's wasn't far behind at 76.5%.

42%

Last season, Dallas finished 29th in the league in using motion pre-snap on offense, the Cowboys used it on 42% of their offensive plays against Philadelphia. Brian Schottenheimer has said time and time again over the offseason that he was going to use it heavily in his offense, and so far he's stuck to his word.

53.8%

Thursday night seemed to be off to a strong start for CeeDee Lamb, as he quickly got off to a hot start and went over 100 yards for the 22nd time in his career. The end was not as good however, as Lamb finished with three crucial drops and a 53.8% catch percentage with seven receptions on 13 targets.

63.6%

Brian Schottenheimer has said that he wants the Cowboys to be better on first and second down to make third down manageable. They did a better job of that on Thursday, converting seven times on 11 third down opportunities.

76.6

In his first start at quarterback for the Cowboys in 305 days, Dak Prescott finished with a 76.6 passer rating, and one that could have been much higher had there been some catches down the stretch. Prescott finished with 188 yards through the air with 21 completions on 34 attempts.

78.8%

New Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus hasn't been one to blitz very much over the course of his career as a defensive play caller. That was once again the case on Thursday, with 78.8% of Dallas' defensive snaps featuring four pass rushers. They registered a 30.8% pressure rate and gave up 135 yards on 16 of 19 passing for 96.3 QB rating.
