Cowboys 'don't think' CB Trevon Diggs will play Sunday vs. Broncos

FRISCO, Texas – A week ago today, Cowboys head coach Brain Schottenheimer announced at his Friday press conference that CB Trevon Diggs suffered a concussion in an accident at his home and would be out against the Commanders.

A week later, and Diggs is still in the league's concussion protocol, and is trending towards being out for Sunday's game on the road in Denver.

"We'll find out more today, today's the final dress rehearsal. I don't think Trevon will be able to make it," Schottenheimer said on 105.3 the Fan Friday morning. "But we'll find out about the other couple guys. We've got a lot of guys that we need to see today, it's that time of year man."

The "other couple guys" refer to safety Donovan Wilson, the only other Cowboy that hasn't practice this week other than Diggs, as well as left tackle Tyler Guyton, who popped on the injury report Thursday with a glute injury.

Official game injury designations will be made later in the afternoon on Friday, but Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones doesn't seem optimistic either.

"I think questionable this week, and we won't go past that," Jones said on 105.3 the Fan. "Questionable this week, real questionable."

Against the Commanders, Kaiir Elam earned the start opposite DaRon Bland with Diggs sidelined, and will likely get the nod again in Denver should Diggs officially be ruled out again.

At the very least, the Cowboys can lean on the fact that they're getting healthier at cornerback with Caelen Carson being back on the 53-man roster, and rookie third-round pick Shavon Revel having his 21-day return to practice window opened on Wednesday. That gives Dallas options should Diggs end up being sidelined longer than this week, although it's very possible he clears protocol and returns against Arizona.
