ARLINGTON, Texas – While the two prize fighters were on center stage for Tuesday's press conference at AT&T Stadium, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones took some time to talk a little football.

After the press conference to promote the March 16 fight between Errol Spence Jr. and Mikey Garcia, Jones had a few questions about his football team mixed in with the main attraction of AT&T Stadium and the premier fight.

Here are a few highlights from Jones, who hadn't met with reporters officially since the end of the football season.

Contention With D-Law?

Fans are waiting for the "deal" to get done with DeMarcus Lawrence. There are some raised eyebrows regarding a tweet from Lawrence:

on February 10 that simply says, "#TheyLying". When asked if there was any contention on the delay of getting a deal done, Jones said, None. There's just absolutely none, as far as I'm concerned. It's one of the best relationships I have or ever had with a player. The relationship is outstanding." Jones was asked multiple times about the situation and declined to get into any details: "I'm not going to get into any of our strategies our how we are going to be doing it. It is strategic but DeMarcus is certainly a significant part of the now and the future."

Jason's Final Season?

Speaking of eyebrows raised – same situation surrounding the head coach, due to the fact that Jason Garrett was not offered an extension beyond this season. This one possibly his last at the helm for the Cowboys, Jones reassured media they've been in this situation before. Jones said he and Jason Garrett are both happy with where they are, and reiterated that they both have "real trust in each other."

Safety Search in Free Agency?

At the end of his 15-minute chat with the media, Jerry Jones was asked about the organization having conversations about the safety position in free agency. He quickly responded with a firm "Yes, but that's about all I'll say". The Cowboys currently have Jeff Heath and Xavier Woods in starting spots at safety. All eyes are on Seattle's Earl Thomas, a Texas native currently training in the Austin area, about three hours from Dallas. Thomas will be an unrestricted free agent. He has a few different options, but joining the Cowboys would mean reuniting with Kris Richard, who coached Seattle's defense from 2010 – 2017.

Moore or Less…

When asked about why Kellen Moore was the right person for the Offensive Coordinator job, Jerry Jones emphasized that this is an 'opportunity' for Moore, placing emphasis on the word 'opportunity'. Communication seemed to be something Jones admires about the way Kellen Moore coaches. "He has a great way of getting his ideas across, getting people to listen to his ideas, I've heard that consistently from everybody that's spent any time with him."

The Key to Another Lombardi?

When asked about how he expects the Cowboys to get back to the Super Bowl, Jones said "I think we've got defensively, to play better than we played against the Rams. On offense, I think when they stack it up against Zeke, we've got to be able to open it up. That sounds simplistic, but that's the nuts and bolts of it. It was very disappointing to lose that Rams game."
