FRISCO, Texas -- The Cowboys will hit the road to East Rutherford on Sunday for their final game of the 2025 season, a road matchup against their NFC East rival New York Giants.
Back in Week 2, Dallas won a thriller over the G-Men at AT&T Stadium in a 40-37 overtime finish where both teams scored a combined 41 points in the fourth quarter. This time around, the Cowboys are hoping to find the same offensive success as their previous meeting with the Giants, but find improvement on the defensive side of the ball.
The Cowboys have won the last nine games over the Giants, the longest active winning streak over another opponent in the NFL. As a starter, Dak Prescott has won the last 14 games against New York, the second-longest streak of wins over a single team as a starter in NFL history.
Can Dallas make it 10 straight wins over the Giants, and can Prescott win his 15th straight game as a starter against them? Our staff gives their thoughts in this week's Gut Feeling:
Patrik: I have little confidence, at this point, that the Cowboys' defense can consistently stop an opposing quarterback and offense. I just witnessed Josh Johnson and Co. put up 23 points and threaten to come back to get a win on Christmas Day, a point that also brings me to the concerns about how the offense has gone from not being able to get a fast start to suddenly being the definition of a fast start, but with an ice cold finish in the second half of each of the last four games.
My optimism regarding this game lies in the fact Dak Prescott is slated to start, and though I don't agree with the decision, he owns the Giants, and has since 2016. I believe Jaxson Dart gets his, unfortunately, but that Prescott gets a bit more, and the Cowboys avoid a second consecutive losing season, just not in an attractive way. 35-27, Cowboys
Tommy: Everybody wants to end the year on a high note so that you can feel good going into the next year. That's what the Cowboys will hope to do on Sunday, although they'll need much more than just a victory against the Giants in order to get better in 2026. For this game though, Dallas faces a different Giants team than they did from Week 2 because of Jaxson Dart.
He can beat you with both his arm and his legs, so the Cowboys' defense will need to be on their P's and Q's against him moreso than Russell Wilson, who was more of a threat with his arm than he was his legs. Defensively, they still have an intimidating and effective defensive front that's sure to cause trouble. If the Cowboys can hold up at the line of scrimmage, protect the quarterback and get some effectiveness in the run game, I think they can find that high note to end the season on. Cowboys 24, Giants 20
Nick: I feel like every game this season has been tough to predict and this one is no exception. Mainly it's a challenge because unlike 99 percent of other NFL games, you have to wonder just what the ultimate goal is - for either team. This is one of those games where a loss actually helps the future more than a win. But I would think it affects the Giants more, considering they are currently No. 2 in the draft order and could fall to 5 or 6 if they were to win. The Cowboys are around 14 and could go down to 19 as well.
But Schotty and Dak have also preached the importance of getting a win and finishing the year at 8-8-1. The fact Dak will play some, maybe not for a long time, but he is planning to play a little bit lets us know that the Cowboys are definitely looking to get the win. Talent wise, they should be better than the Giants but then again, we've seen New York almost beat them back in Week 2 with Russell Wilson, who looked more like Peyton Manning that day.
I think the weather will keep the scoring down a little. But since the goal is to get to 8-8-1 I'll say the Cowboys figure out how to win, by eight. Give me Dallas, 24-16.
Mickey: Don't have much stomach for this, knowing the Cowboys will not play a slew of players who have just a tad more than a headache of an injury, and really not knowing if the Giants are trying to win, knowing a loss might give them a chance at the No. 1 pick in the 2026 draft thanks to an easiest strength of schedule, although a loss to the Cowboys might strengthen that record. Who knows. Remember the two teams the second game of the season went to overtime for the Cowboys 40-37 victory. Both teams have changed significantly, the Giants maybe the most after firing head coach Brian Daboll, starting rookie QB Jaxson Dart, but losing Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo and Kayvon Thibodeaux. Maybe with Dak at least starting, maybe playing a couple of series before turning the game over to Joe Milton, the Cowboys can squeak out a 23-20 win.
