Hurns Officially Released; Cowboys Sign QB

FRISCO, Texas – The Cowboys have officially released wide receiver Allen Hurns and signed quarterback Taryn Christion to the 90-man roster.

Christion originally signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent this past spring and was waived in May. The 6-foot-2 rookie started 44 games for South Dakota State and finished his college career as the school's all-time leader in passing yards (11,535) and passing touchdowns (104).

Christion gives the Cowboys a fourth quarterback for training camp with the first practice set for Saturday in Oxnard, California. Behind starter Dak Prescott, backups Cooper Rush and Mike White will compete for the No. 2 job.

Hurns confirmed Tuesday that he expected to be cut, though the Cowboys did not officially make the move until Wednesday. He participated in offseason workouts on a limited basis after recovering from the devastating ankle/leg injury he suffered in the Cowboys' playoff win over Seattle.
