2026 NFL Draft Tight End Prospects

From a depth-chart standpoint, tight end doesn’t appear to have major needs. Jake Ferguson is coming off his second Pro Bowl season with career-high numbers in catches and touchdown receptions. His backup, Luke Schoonmaker, is a second-round pick entering the fourth and final year of his contract, followed by promising youngster Brevyn Spann-Ford, who could challenge for the No. 2 role. Dallas even re-signed Princeton Fant, who spent last season, his third with the organization, primarily on the team’s practice squad. However, tight end is one position that always seems to be evolving, especially with position coach Lunda Wells’ ability to find and develop young prospects. Also, let’s not forget the Cowboys have a history of searching for tight end depth despite what’s already on the roster. In Jason Witten’s fourth year, the team drafted Anthony Fasano in the second round and then added Martellus Bennett with a second-rounder in 2008. The plan wasn’t for them to unseat Witten but provide the offense a solid duo. So don’t be surprised if the Cowboys acquire more tight end depth this year, even with a mid-round pick. – Nick Eatman
