For the first time in 2025, the bright lights of Monday Night Football will illuminate AT&T Stadium. The Dallas Cowboys (3-4-1) welcome in the Arizona Cardinals (2-5) as both teams look to get back on track in Week 9. Dallas is entering off another road loss while trying to defend their undefeated home record this season.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are trying to snap one of the more unique five-game losing streaks the NFL has ever seen. Here are 8 more notable 'big facts' to remember ahead of Monday's 7:15pm CT kickoff on ESPN and ABC.
Home Sweet Home
Dallas is 2-0-1 at home this season, one of just five team without a home loss along with the Broncos, Colts, Lions, and Packers. The Cowboys have scored more points per game (41.3) and total yards per game (441.0) by any home team in 2025. Should the season end today, they would be the second-highest scoring offense at home in NFL history behind just the 1950 Rams (46.5).
Home Sweet Home 2.0
Should Kyler Murray (questionable) make the start at quarterback on Monday, it would be his 10th game played at AT&T Stadium since his varsity quarterback days at Allen High School. Murray is 9-0 in those games, 2-0 with Arizona, 1-0 with Oklahoma, 1-0 with Texas A&M, and 5-0 with Allen.
Winning the Games they Should
The Cowboys enter Week 9 with a 3-0 record against teams under .500 this season but are a combined 0-4-1 against teams that are at .500 or better at this point in the season. The Cardinals currently sit at 2-5 and have lost five straight games after starting the year 2-0.
Bye-Bye, Arizona
The Cardinals enter their meeting with Dallas off their bye week in Week 8. With this being year three of the Jonathan Gannon era, Arizona is 0-2 in games following their bye week under their current head coach. Last season, they fell 16-6 against Seattle, and in 2023 they lose 45-29 to San Francisco on their game following the bye under Gannon.
So Close, Yet So Far
Arizona is currently on the wrong side of history during their five-game losing streak. The Cardinals' combined point margin through the five losses is at minus-13, tied for the lowest in NFL history with the 2017 San Franscisco 49ers. All five of the losses have been by a single possession and with a go-ahead score in the final five minutes of the game.
Pressure is on Prescott
Throughout his career, Dak Prescott is 31-14-1 coming off a loss in his career, the fifth-best QB record off a loss since he entered the league in 2016. Only Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Tom Brady had a better winning percentage in those games than Prescott with a minimum of 20 starts). Additionally, Prescott's 105.4 passer rating following a loss is the second-best out of the group.
Under the Bright Lights
Dak Prescott makes his first Monday Night Football start since October of 2023 and holds a 5-1 record on Monday nights. Only Colin Kaepernick (509) has a better record than Prescott on Monday night since 2000 out of quarterbacks with at least five starts. However, Dallas is 0-1-1 in their two primetime matchups this season.
T-Mac vs. Ferg
Two of the top tight ends in the NFL square off in Arlington this weekend. The Cowboys' Jake Ferguson looks to rebound off his first game without a catch since Week 14 of 2022. While Trey McBride has totaled at least five receptions in all seven games this season. He is one of three tight ends in NFL history along with Mike Ditka (1964) and Zach Ertz (2018) as the only tight ends with that many receptions through their team's first seven games. Neither secured five receptions in their team's eighth game.
