building and maintaining a dynasty in the modern NFL. It's tough to dump cornerstones of the franchise - Drew Bledsoe, Willie McGinest, Ty Law, Deion Branch, Adam Vinatieri, Troy Brown, Mike Vrabel, Rodney Harrison, Asante Samuel and Richard Seymour - but sometimes it's got to be done.
Last year some talented young players allowed the Cowboys to move out veteran contributors, even Greg Ellis, who was tied with Adams as the longest-tenured Cowboy. Those moves to release Ellis, Terrell Owens and Anthony Henry were unpopular, because most believed the guys could still play. It's just that the Cowboys believed they had people who could play better.
If they feel the same way about Adams and Free, the last link to the '90s Cowboys could soon be gone.
