Cowboys acquire Pro Bowl DT in Kenny Clark

FRISCO, Texas - While he's certainly not the headliner in this trade, Kenny Clark is quite the player in his own right, and will certainly give immediate help to the Cowboys.

Not only are the Cowboys getting a three-time Pro Bowler, but he plays a position of need - defensive tackle. Clark is considered a true nose tackle and will likely provide some much-needed depth in the middle of the defense, playing next to Osa Odighizuwa.

Clark, who turns 30 in October, has played nine seasons for the Packers. He's missed just eight games in his career and has played a full 17 games in each of the last three seasons.

For his career, Clark has 35 sacks, but had just one last year, the fewest of his career since his rookie year.

Ironically enough, nine years ago, the Cowboys had Clark on their radar in the 2016 NFL Draft. Although they had the 34th overall pick and eventually took Jaylon Smith in the second round, Clark was a player of interest. He went off the board at No. 27 for the Packers.

Clark has three years remaining on his contract, with an average cap charge of about $23 million per year. That's slightly higher than Odighizuwa, who just signed a four-year, $80 million deal this offseason.

Those two will headline the defensive tackle room, which also includes veteran Solomon Thomas, Mazi Smith and Perrion Winfrey.
