Dak Prescott 'full go' for Cowboys training camp; 'excited' about George Pickens

FRISCO, Texas — Ready or not, here comes 2025 training camp for Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys, and the franchise quarterback is making it known he's suffered no setbacks whatsoever in his recovery from a season-ending hamstring injury that occurred last November.

The start of camp in late July will mark a little under nine months since Prescott's hamstring was torn off of his bone during his battle against the Falcons, but he is not expected to begin this year's trek to Oxnard on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list.

"I'm healthy as I'll be," Prescott told reporters during his annual ProCamp in North Texas. "I'll be a full go for camp. I'm healthy. I think soon here I'll probably get an official sign off from doc, but I'm healthy."

It goes without saying this is fantastic news for the Cowboys, but let's say it anyway:

This is fantastic news for the Cowboys.

It's not entirely surprising though, if at all, considering the All-Pro was a full participant throughout the entirety of voluntary OTAs and minicamp, having no restrictions placed upon him — or rather none that could be discerned by watching him lead every single first-team rep.

He's continued his work by way of his annual retreat with teammates that include CeeDee Lamb and newly-acquired, via blockbuster trade, wideout George Pickens, the latter gaining increasing levels of praise from Prescott from the moment he arrived in Dallas to now.

"That knowledge, that involvement, it shows you a guy that loves football and that, to me, delegates a lot of the things you heard in the past about him," Prescott said of Pickens following the retreat. "Great dude, loves his teammates and is excited as hell for this season. I know he is and I know he's happy to be in a fresh new spot and excited for what he's going to do for us."

The former runner-up for NFL MVP didn't stop there though, also showing his excitement for the physical traits Pickens brings to the Cowboys in 2025 — adding to the repeated lack of concern regarding any narratives regarding his mental makeup.

"Go turn on that guy's tape," said Prescott. "He's getting separation. He's got separation even when he's not getting the ball at times, and when he doesn't have separation, he's still making the catches. It's not going to be hard.

"For me, it's about getting the ball near that guy and he will be George Pickens. Go turn on the tape -- he's great at doing it."

It's objectively one hell of a one-two punch at receiver, the Pickens-Lamb duo conjuring visions of what the offense looked like when Prescott was throwing passes to Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb on a weekly basis — leading to the Cowboys owning the No. 1 offense in the league that season.

"To be the guy that gets them the ball, it's exciting as hell," Prescott said.

With Prescott fully healthy and no contractual ongoings this time around for Lamb, the trio can hit the ground running, together, as soon as the tires hit the tarmac in Southern California.
