Fitting In: Terrell has a legitimate chance to compete with Richard Bartel for the third quarterback spot, if there is one on the 53-man roster. Bartel has the advantage of having played in the Cowboys' system while on the practice squad last season, whereas Terrell was signed just before training camp opened after a mini-camp workout. He has spent a year out of football. The Kansas City Chiefs released him prior to the 2007 regular season.
So Far: Terrell has not looked impressive early in camp, throwing an interception and a few other ugly wobblers the first couple of days. But, he has been out of football for an entire year, except for a very brief stint in Arena ball. Terrell said he'd be putting in some extra time after practices to regain his rhythm, which he has.
Best Asset: Like starter Tony Romo, Terrell takes pride in having a quick release.
You Should Know: At Princeton, Terrell majored in religion, specifically studying Islamic martyrdom in Iran. Not only did he attend the same college as offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, but also the same high school.
A Mouthful: "I was working in real estate for a little while. I played arena ball for a minute. I had a tryout here at mini-camp, and I was thinking about going to teach before I got this call."
