Fitting In: While the Cowboys still have Everett listed as a cornerback on the official roster, they moved him to safety back during the OTA and mini-camp sessions. That's sort of a crowded field with two Pro Bowl starters, Ken Hamlin and Roy Williams, an established backup in Pat Watkins and then second-year player Courtney Brown. But when Hamlin missed all of the off-season workouts, it was Everett working on the second team with Brown.
So Far: At least the coaching staff knows who he is, and even the head coach Wade Phillips commented during an OTA practice when asked about the depth at safety, saying, "that No. 37" is making plays." Plus, he has some special-teams skills which already have caught the staff's eye.
Best Asset: He brings a corner's cover skills to the safety position, where normally corners who can't cover land. The Cowboys moved him there because of the crowded cornerback field, not because he couldn't play.
You Should Know: He did play with the Chicago Bears for the final three games of their 2006 Super Bowl season after spending time on the team's practice squad. He was a former running back in high school, from none other than Canton, Ohio, home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
A Mouthful: "My best and favorite hobby is cooking. I love to cook. People don't believe me, and then I cook something and they say, 'Oh man you can cook!.' I love Emeril!"
