FRISCO, Texas – Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson has been named among the NFL's 32 nominees for the 2025 Salute to Service Award presented by USAA.
Every year, the award recognizes NFL players, alumni, staff and coaches for their efforts to honor and support the military and veteran communities. Last season, guard Zack Martin was the Cowboys' nominee for the award.
"The Salute to Service Award nominees are extraordinary advocates for the military community, demonstrating the impact that individuals can have in the lives of those who serve," said Major General (Retired) Bob Whittle, senior vice president and head of military affairs at USAA in a press release.
"USAA and the NFL proudly celebrate these deserving nominees for honoring, empowering and connecting with those who have worn our nation's uniform, and we encourage fans across the globe to join in showing their appreciation."
Since the Cowboys drafted Ferguson in 2022, he's partnered with USAA to visit local military bases and spend time with those who are currently serving in the military.
Additionally, Ferguson has been an active supporter of the National Medal of Honor Museum (NMOHM), located in Arlington, Texas right next to where he plays his home games at AT&T Stadium.
In 2024, Ferguson joined NMOHM President and CEO Chris Cassidy, Medal of Honor recipient and retired U.S. Navy SEAL Master Chief Britt Slabinski, and former Washington Commanders WR Josh Morgan to participate in a live Character Playbook event at AT&T Stadium.
There were 900 students in attendance at the event, and several thousand more who joined virtually to discuss the importance of commitment with Cassidy, Slabinski, Morgan and Ferguson.
Ferguson joins the likes of Martin, Cowboys Chief Brand Owner and co-owner Charlotte Jones, former Cowboys DC Dan Quinn and former Cowboys QB Roger Staubach as nominees for the Salute to Service Award.
