Mailbag: Senior Bowl Participants Worthy Of The No. 4 Pick? Long-Term Deals?

STEVE CRAIGLAS VEGAS, NV
Did anyone see a player in the Senior Bowl worthy of the of the fourth pick in the first round?

Bryan: Depending how much you like Noah Spence from Eastern Kentucky? He is the best pass rusher in the draft. My thoughts haven't changed on Carson Wentz and Reggie Ragland should be drafted in the middle of the round. Other than that – not really.

David:Bryan and some others have thrown out Spence as a candidate for the No. 4 overall pick, but I just have a hard time believing a guy with his history would go that high – especially to a team coached by Jason Garrett. It's too early to rule Wentz out, but I didn't see anything in Mobile that convinced me he's a top-five pick.

All signs point to the Cowboys having a plenty of cap space in the future. Will they try to lock up Travis Frederick and Zack Martin long-term before they sniff free agency, like they did with Tyron Smith?

Bryan: I think there is a better chance that they try with Martin first, but that's just my opinion. This is not to say that Frederick hasn't been good, but I have a feeling that the guard position is more important in Jerry Jones' thinking long term than the center.

David:Thanks to the CBA, both players have fifth-year options on their contracts. If they want to, the Cowboys can secure Frederick through the 2017 season this spring. Same goes for Martin – the Cowboys control him for three more years, assuming they're willing to pick up his option. Long-term, I think Martin is more likely to get a second contract here, but it's not unreasonable to think they both will.
