(Oct. 18; 12:05 p.m.) – Head coach Jason Garrett said Sean Lee handled limited reps well Wednesday in his first practice back from a hamstring injury.

"He made a good progression," Garrett said. "We have to see how he does here the next couple of days. Hopefully he will be ready for the game. We just have to be mindful of the number of snaps he does get."

The Cowboys are better equipped to keep Lee fresh during games because they're deeper at linebacker than past seasons. Even when Lee was healthy in the first three games, the defense rotated Jaylon Smith and rookie Leighton Vander Esch. The first-round pick currently leads Dallas in tackles (60).

Garrett said starting cornerback Chidobe Awuzie (ankle) looked good in limited participation Wednesday. Awuzie was held out against Jacksonville last Sunday and in the second half against Houston the previous week.

Garrett didn't have an update on wide receiver Tavon Austin, who's getting a second opinion on the groin injury he suffered against the Jaguars.

Only Austin and linebacker Joe Thomas (foot) weren't on the field during the open portion of Thursday's practice.
