(Editor's Note: To celebrate the 100thAnniversary of the NFL, each team has one week throughout the season to focus on not only the league's history but its own tradition as well. Today, we honor 100 years by looking at nearly a hundred of the best jersey numbers in franchise history.)

Since we're counting to 100 a lot these days, let's look at the best jersey numbers in Dallas Cowboys history.

Obviously, there are some slam dunk choices. We know Roger Staubach is the best 12 and Bob Lilly was the only No. 74 and always will be. There's no debate on Troy Aikman as the best No. 8 and even though there's another Ring of Honor member to wear it, No. 22 is of course going to Emmitt Smith.

Ok, those were easy. What about No. 21? What about No. 70? And of course, No. 88 is always a tough call.

We do have two ties on this list, mainly because of current players that might not be the best to wear it now, but are projecting to be there when their careers are done.

You'll see some surprises on this list, and maybe some guys you've never heard of. You'll see some Ring of Honor and even some Hall of Fame players who didn't make it.

Again, this the best Cowboys to wear each jersey number in franchise history.

In honor of the NFL's 100th Anniversary, we've counted to 99 – ranking the best players in Cowboys history to wear each jersey number. Some are pretty calls, but what about No. 21 and 88? See if we got it right!
