| Plays with some serious strength and a finishing ability. Keeps his pads low and shows an ability to anchor against even bigger defenders. Good footwork and a strong lower half, though adding weight wouldn’t be a bad thing. | The technical side of his game needs work. Tends to get out in front of his front foot, so balance suffers as a result. His hand technique and ability to reset are off. He gets his hands outside and allows defenders off blocks. |
OVERVIEW: Slaughter enters the NFL with plenty of accolades, including twice earning All-America honors at center and being named a finalist for the Rimington Trophy, which is given to the nation's top center. He grew up in a small town of about 100 people only 30 miles outside Gainesville, where he dreamed of playing for Florida. And he played quite a bit, allowing just four sacks over 1,160 snaps in 54 games with 50 starts. His experience will be a plus, but some of the technical things he needs to clean up will hinder his immediate impact.
