| Has all the traits to be great. Moves very well for a 325-pounder and has an athletic background from soccer and basketball. Long arms and finishing ability helped negate some of the best edge rushers in the Big 12. | Still needs to clean up some technique concerns after picking up the sport so late. Hand placement is a big one. Tends to get grabby and wide, possibly asking for penalty flags. Inconsistent with angles and reacting to stunts. |
OVERVIEW: Born in Nigeria, Max did not play football at all growing up and instead competed in soccer and basketball. But as he started to grow, his AAU coach suggested trying football as a tight end. He enrolled at East Los Angeles College where he played one game in 2021 before switching to offensive line in 2022. There he immediately became a recruiting sensation and transferred to Arizona State a year later. By the time his run in Tempe concluded, he had tallied 1,159 pass blocking snaps with just three sacks allowed.
