| A hybrid safety with good range to cover the whole field, Thieneman can play deep but also in the box physically against the run. He’s a consistent player on every down with great instincts. | Thieneman will sometimes hit open gaps too quickly against the run and miss tackles. Can struggle as players go longer in man coverage. Good athlete but at times can be late when stopping and changing direction. |
OVERVIEW: After two years as the star of Purdue's defense, Thieneman transferred to Oregon's loaded roster and became one of the most crucial pieces of the Ducks defense, posting 92 total tackles, five pass breakups and two interceptions in his final collegiate season. Thieneman is a consistent, instinctual and athletic player who can handle coverage responsibilities on deep zones and also come down in the box and play against the run, although that facet of his game will need some sharpening at the next level.
