Staubach To Receive Prestigious Hunt Award

KANSAS CITY, MO – Two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Roger Staubach has been selected to receive the 2011 Lamar Hunt Award for Professional Football – an award that honors the life and legacy of Lamar Hunt while recognizing people who have helped shaped the National Football League into the preeminent sports league in America.

Staubach will be honored at the 42nd Annual NFL 101 Awards gala in Kansas City Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the Westin Crown Center. The prestigious black-tie awards event was founded in 1969 and has evolved into what many sports insiders consider the finest awards event of its kind. This year's event is presented by Perfect Output and ECCO Select.

"Roger Staubach certainly ranks as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play in the National Football League, but his impact on the game goes far beyond that," said Clark Hunt, Chairman of the Kansas City Chiefs. "He has represented our league with class, integrity, leadership and excellence, and our family is delighted to have Roger as this year's award recipient."

Staubach spent 11 years at the helm of one of most dominating teams of the 1970s. He led the Dallas Cowboys to nine consecutive winning seasons, four NFC championship game victories and two Super Bowl titles. He was named Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl VI, a 24-3 win over the Miami Dolphins that marked the first Super Bowl win in Cowboys history. Staubach finished his career with a passer rating of 83.4 – the best rating by a quarterback in the history of the league at that time. He threw for 22,700 yards and 153 touchdowns. He led the league in passing four times and was chosen to six Pro Bowls. Twice during his career, Staubach won the NFC Offensive Player of the Year Award from the Committee of 101. He was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985. Staubach won the Heisman Trophy as a junior at the U.S. Naval Academy. After graduation, he served four years of active duty, including a stint in Vietnam, before joining the Cowboys as a rookie in 1969.

Staubach currently is Executive Chairman of Jones Lang LaSalle Americas, a financial and professional services firm specializing in real estate. His role is focusing on client relationships, new business development and strategy. Prior to joining forces with Jones Lang LaSalle, Staubach was Executive Chairman of The Staubach Company, a market leading global real estate advisory firm that delivered cost-effective solutions for office, industrial and retail clients.
