The Cowboys won't sign every one of these guys – couldn't possibly afford to fit them all under the salary cap. But, one could argue, the more they get, the better off they'll be in 2012 and beyond.
With holes all over the roster, the Cowboys can mix major free agency upgrades with role players, allowing themselves to honor their board in April's draft rather than make reach picks just to fill needs.
Here, in order, are the 10 unrestricted free agents who would make the most sense for Dallas:
10. P Mat McBriar, Dallas
Coming off surgery to repair the foot injury that plagued him throughout 2011, McBriar could return to Pro Bowl form. The Cowboys do like Chris Jones, the youngster who filled in for McBriar when he couldn't play, but bringing back the eight-year veteran for a training camp look-see wouldn't be a bad idea.
