FRISCO, Texas — Currently enjoying a three-game win streak that includes wins against the last two Super Bowl winners, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs, and in a span of only four days, it appears the Dallas Cowboys are back on track for a potential playoff berth — Trevon Diggs returning soon to help in that effort.
The All-Pro cornerback has officially returned to practice on Sunday, marking the first day of a 21-day clock that begins immediately.
The Cowboys will have until Dec. 21 to either activate him from IR to the active roster, or he'll revert to season-ending injured reserve.
But, per owner and general manager Jerry Jones to 105.3 the Fan following the Cowboys' win against the Chiefs on Thanksgiving, the expectation is that — barring a setback in practices in the days ahead of their bout with the Lions in Detroit — Diggs will be available at Ford Field.
Diggs suffered a concussion in "an incident" at his home in mid-October, causing him to be ruled out of the next two games before the decision was made to place him on injured reserve to allow him time to both clear the concussion protocol and to manage soreness in his surgically-repaired knee.
The team's front office stated the move was to ensure Diggs would be fully healthy when he returned to the field, and it appears that time is now, or very near.
His return will combine with the recent debut of rookie third-round pick Shavon Revel and the emergence of Reddy Steward as a capable nickel corner to help fellow All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland stabilize the unit going forward, and with a series of must-win games on the menu.
