Dak On Zeke Watch: "Business Is Business"

OXNARD, Calif. – When exactly Ezekiel Elliott reports for training camp is really anyone's guess.

But Dak Prescott is confident his close friend and teammate will be prepared when the time comes.

"We're not worried about him because we know wherever he is, he's doing the right things the right way and he's getting himself ready," Prescott said after Saturday's opening camp practice. "He's probably running the same drills that GB (running backs coach Gary Brown) would have him going through. He's a professional."

Prescott, who's also in talks with the Cowboys about a new contract, said he's had "quick communications" with Elliott since camp began. But the starting quarterback's mind isn't on negotiations for Elliott or himself. It's about the next three weeks of practice in Oxnard.

"My job right now is to come out here and make sure this team is getting better, make sure I'm getting myself better and everybody out here," he said. "That's our main focus: being the best team that we can be with everybody that's here. We know he'll take care of himself."

Several players echoed Prescott's comments on Saturday. None seem concerned about Elliott's absence and fully understand there's a business side to the NFL.

Prescott has no doubt being away from football and his teammates is difficult for Elliott.

"I'm sure," he said, "just knowing his love for the game, his love for his teammates.

"But business is business. That's for him and his team to handle."
