But they didn't do it on this night for several reasons. Not just one, and certainly not one player.
"It was a team effort tonight and we didn't get the job done," Newman said. "The defense didn't play very good. The offense didn't play very good. It's not just one thing. We're not bad cornerbacks. (Romo) isn't a bad quarterback. We're not a bad team. But we played poor tonight. You can't win like that."
It's somewhat refreshing to hear the players stand up and take some accountability in a losing effort. They know they have to play better. And they're taking a lot of the blame.
But we can blame the Giants, too. They were just a little better.
