Player Mailbag: Barry Church Talks Lil Jon, Cowboys Shoe Game & More

Barry Church sat down with Dallascowboys.com to answer fan submitted questions via the Player Mailbag. Check out his answers below!

Name: Ben M
Location: Canada
Question: Hey Barry! Huge fan! My question for you is, what is your pre-game ritual and why? Thanks from Canada's biggest Cowboys fan!

Barry: Usually it starts with a nice pasta salad at the pregame meal, and then I usually take the second bus. For some reason I haven't taken the first bus since I was a rookie. Once I get there, I make sure I have all my equipment ready and then I hop in the hot tub, stretch out my legs a little bit, check to make sure I have my short ankle socks and then I get rolling.

Name: David Kinsel
Location:Thoreau, NM
Question: What is your favorite type of music?

Barry: It would have to be rap followed closely by reggae and in third, R&B. Rap would definitely be the first one.

Name: Alex Camacho
Location:Garden Grove, CA
Question:Why did you choose to wear No. 42?

Barry:I didn't choose it, they actually picked it for me, but it was my father's number when he played in high school and when he played semi-pro. I was glad to have it.

Name: Anthony Reyes
Location: Grand Prairie, TX
Question: Who is your favorite NBA team?

Barry: My favorite NBA team would have to be the Boston Celtics. I've always been a big fan, especially when they had Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. They're doing pretty good right now; they made the playoffs!

Name: Daniel Henderson
Location: Wichita Falls, TX
Question: What's your favorite classic video game?

Barry: It would have to be Streets Of Rage. A lot of people might not know about it, but it was for the Sega Genesis and it was a beast. The only thing about Sega is you couldn't save the game, so if you didn't beat it you had to keep playing it over and over again.

Name: Daniel Rivera
Location: Houston, TX
Question: Which Hall of Fame player is you biggest inspiration?

Barry: It would have to be Ronnie Lott, he wore the number 42 like me. I just kind of liked his game; he was physical, he was downhill and he was a destructive player. I think he started the whole big safety and hitting hard safeties in the NFL, and that's who I try to model my game after.

Name: Dirk Dooley
Location: Columbus, OH
Question: Who is your favorite Cowboy of all time?

Barry: My favorite Cowboy of all time would have to be Deion Sanders. The way he just lit it up out there returning punts and intercepting and living the whole "Prime Time" thing, it was crazy. That's my favorite Cowboy by far.

Name: Joseph M
Location: Corpus Christi, TX
Question:What is your favorite stadium to play in on the road?

Barry: Favorite stadium to play in would have to be New York (MetLife Stadium). Every time I've gone up there we've won and it's a great stadium to play in. The visitors are always tough on us over there; you just kind of embrace it and want to play hard because they are rooting against you.

Name: Josh Soffriti
Location: Danville
Question: What is your most memorable interception in your career so far?

Barry: My most memorable one would have to be the one I had this past year against New York (Giants). They tipped a pass up and I picked it off and was able to take it 50 yards back to mid-field and it kind of swung the momentum in our favor and we ended up winning that game.

Name: Derek Hudson
Location: San Diego
Question: Have you ever hit someone on the field and then told them "You just got taken to church"? If not, I recommend it.

Barry: (Laughing) Duly noted, but it's never happened. I think I might do that this year, that's a good suggestion.

Name: Dylan Pack
Location: Charlotte, NC
Question: What do safeties like yourself do in the offseason to prepare for the upcoming season?

Barry: To prepare for the upcoming season you have to take care of your body. I'm a bigger safety, so when I go out there I don't want to be overweight and sluggish and slow, so I have to make sure my body is where it needs to be so I can perform at my best.

Name: Natalie Dominguez
Location: Humble, TX
Question: What's your favorite hobby to do when you're not playing football?

Barry: I love to travel. I take about three vacations during the offseason. This past offseason I went to London, Paris and Cabo (San Lucas) so far.

Name: Alex Simpson
Location: Somerset, Kentucky
Question: Who was your football idol growing up?

Barry: My football idol would have to be Ed Reed. The way he revolutionized the safety position is unbelievable and I just loved watching his game, especially against Pittsburgh, my hometown. He used to just destroy us. The way he would just go out there and was so smooth with it was unbelievable.

Name: Debbie Davis
Location: Houston, TX
Question: What are you looking forward to the most for the 2015 season?

Barry: I'm just looking forward to seeing how we can stack up against the rest of the NFL and hopefully build on what we did last year. I hope we go even further in the playoffs than we did last year. I'm just looking forward to what this team can bring to the plate and I'm excited about it.

Name: Luis Montano
Location: Midlothian, VA
Question: What's your favorite thing about being a Cowboy and what was your favorite game you've played in?

Barry: My favorite thing about being a Cowboy is just being able to play with a lot of the guys that I've come into the league with and we're still close, so it's kind of like a family. I love playing for my family. My favorite game would have to be this year when we played against Tennessee. I felt like our defense played pretty well and we were all flying around on the defensive side and the offensive side was clicking. That was our first game to our six-game winning streak.

Name: Scott Huber
Location: NY
Question: Ketchup or mustard?

Barry: Definitely ketchup. I feel like I can put ketchup on more things. My favorite breakfast is cheese eggs scrambled and you have to throw some ketchup on there.

Name:Parker Perret
Location: Frisco, TX
Question: Who has the best shoe game on the team?

Barry: That's tough. I have a lot of kicks and I pretty much consider myself a sneaker-head, but compared to Ryan Williams, it's nothing. Ryan's shoe game and shoe collection is unbelievable. Hat goes off to Ryan Williams.

Name:Taylor Rose
Location: Dallas, TX
Question: If you weren't playing professionally in the NFL, what career path would you be pursuing?

Barry: I got my degree in broadcast journalism, so I feel like I would have started off there working either behind the scenes or trying to become an anchor somewhere.

Name: Lexi Garza
Location: Dalhart, TX
Question: What was your favorite memory from the 2014-15 season?

Barry: It would have to be winning the playoff game against Detroit. It was crazy how we were able to come back from being down by two touchdowns. It was great to have the fans behind us. That was the loudest I've ever heard our stadium. It was a pretty remarkable feeling.

Name: Tyrone Crawford
Location: Sweetwater, TX
Question: Who is the comedian in the locker room? (I think you were robbed of a Pro Bowl btw)

Barry: There are so many of them, but I would have to go with Davon Coleman. He's a pretty crazy dude; he keeps it live in the locker room. He makes sure everyone is up and ready to get going and he's just a funny guy. The guy is hilarious.

Name:Isaac Lopez
Location: Santa Fe, NM
Question:What's on your pregame playlist?

Barry: It definitely consists of a lot of Wiz Khalifa followed up by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz. After that I go to a little Robin Thicke to begin the game just to calm myself down.

Name: Conner Cantrell
Location: Pensacola, FL
Question: Who was your favorite football team growing up?

Barry: The Dallas Cowboys. The first NFL game that I watched at my house growing up that I can remember was when the Cowboys played the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1995 and ever since then I've been a fan.
