Players Uninterested In Division Race, More Focused on Bengals

IRVING, Texas –It might have been a strange, uncomfortable feeling, but for a few hours on Monday night, just about every Cowboys fan was rooting for the Washington Redskins.

And, those fans got exactly what they wanted. By squeezing out a 17-16 victory over the New York Giants, the Redskins allowed the Cowboys to pull within a game of the division lead.

With four games left to play, the NFC East is still a very tight race that might just come down to the wire. At 7-5, the Giants are in control of their own destiny, but nipping at their heels are the Cowboys and Redskins, both at 6-6.

Despite being able to see a small, possible playoff-light at the end of the tunnel, the Cowboys' locker room is not exactly full of players that have been, or plan on, scoreboard watching.

On Wednesday, DeMarco Murray said the division race is not even on his mind.

"I have no idea what's going on," Murray said. "I just know that we're taking it one game at a time. We're not worrying about what anybody else does. … I didn't watch the game. I saw the highlights."

While a Redskins' victory was in the Cowboys' best interests, Jason Hatcher also said that he didn't tune in to watch the game.

"Believe it or not, I don't watch too much football. I really don't watch much TV at all. I heard Washington won. That's good for us. … We just got to go out here and win this next one."

After practice, DeMarcus Ware talked about the division. He claimed that a tight race is something he's used to, having been in the NFC East his entire career.

"The East has always been all the way down to the wire," Ware said. "It's always been close. It's a brutal NFC East, a grind-down division. It's going to come down to the wire. We've just got to keep playing well and think about a game at a time and eventually, hopefully, we'll get to the end."
