Ring of Honor: Gil Brandt

ROH-Gil-Brandt-hero

As the Cowboys' original vice president of player personnel for the first 29 years of the franchise's existence, Gil Brandt oversaw the acquisition of 15 of the 19 players who are currently in the Ring of Honor. That included two undrafted free agents in Cliff Harris and Drew Pearson, a pair of seventh round picks in Rayfield Wright and Bob Hayes, and a 10th round choice in Roger Staubach. From that group, nine are also in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Brandt was responsible for bringing into the organization 53 players who earned a combined total of 178 Pro Bowl appearances. In 30 years with the Cowboys, Brandt was also an innovator, introducing computers and technology into the player evaluation process, as well as such standard testing as the 40-yard dash. He was inducted into the Ring of Honor during halftime of the Cowboys-Saints game on Nov. 29, 2018.
