ARLINGTON, Texas – On Sunday, the Cowboys got CB Trevon Diggs back into the lineup after he'd spent the previous eight games on injured reserve for a concussion suffered in an at-home accident, which Diggs revelaed Sunday was due to a TV mount pole that fell on him, as well as a knee injury.

With his counterpart DaRon Bland out for the season with a foot injury that will likely require surgery, Diggs was activated off IR on Saturday and played 52 snaps in his first game back in over two months.

"It was a blessing, it felt amazing," Diggs said. "Super excited, super happy to go out there and get to compete with my brothers."

Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones will have to go back and watch the film, but from what he saw live, he was happy with Diggs' performance.

"Without looking at it, I wouldn't know when he was in or out of coverage, but I thought he played with a lot of, really, awareness. I thought he played well," Jones said. "He played against some good competition. That's a good quarterback out there… I was glad to see him back out there."

The Diggs saga has been one that's dated several weeks now, with head coach Brian Schottenheimer saying a few weeks ago that the team needed to see consistency from Diggs in "everything." This week, Diggs said that Schottenheimer and the team challenged him to on "competing, doing everything right, tackling, everything."

He got his chance, and a lot was different since the last time Diggs took the field. Defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus was in the booth calling the defense, Bland was out, and one of the nuances that stood out to Diggs was getting back into the swing of things.

"Readjusting back to the game speed, adjusting back to just playing and just being out there, adjusting to the calls, just adjusting, basically." Diggs said.

In the stat sheet, Diggs was credited for six tackles. What he's most happy about though is how he came out of the game.

"I'm proud that I'm healthy," Diggs said. "Proud I played all the plays, proud I went out there and competed, gave it everything, and I'm glad I was just out there with the guys."

Diggs was credited by Next Gen Stats as the closest defender on five targets, five of which were caught for 68 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown came on Ladd McConkey's 25-yard catch in the second quarter, where he got behind Diggs and the Cowboys defense for a score.

When asked about the play, Diggs said "Cover 2, Cover 2, Cover 2," the coverage that Dallas was in on the play. Diggs was asked after the game about the difficulty of Cover 2.

"It's just a coverage, it's a lot of room I guess," Diggs said. "Hole shots, flats, a lot of things to cover. That's just what comes with that coverage. "There's ways to beat us, ways to get past us."

Diggs did say that if that is the scheme for the future, he would "definitely" be able to adjust to it. That said, the thought of Sunday being the last home game Diggs plays at AT&T Stadium "possibly" went through his mind, and it was "tough." Diggs reiterated that he wants to remain in Dallas, but knows there's a conversation coming up this offseason with Schottenheimer and Jones about his future, although he doesn't know what it holds.

"After the season I guess we'll figure it out." Diggs said.
