Camp Underway With Morning Walkthrough

The pads won't come on until the weekend and the team won't go full speed until Thursday afternoon, but this morning's walkthrough represents the official first practice of camp.

The session was devoted to special teams work.

The hour-long walkthrough is made up of less than the 90 players allowed at camp, as unrestricted free agents who the team has reportedly agreed to terms with, such as Doug Free and Kyle Kosier, cannot participate until next week per the new CBA.

Several players the team is expected to release this afternoon were not in attendance, Marion Barber, Leonard Davis, Roy Williams and Marc Colombo, who reportedly did not agree to a restructured contract.

Also, the team has yet to reach agreements with its full draft class, as seventh-round offensive lineman Bill Nagy was the only member of the eight-pick haul in attendance.

Stephen Jones said Wednesday he hoped to have all of the rookies signed by today, though negotiations were tricky because of new rules.

On Wednesday night, the assembled veterans and rookies were put through a conditioning test. The players will be in meetings during the day until the afternoon practice.
