Since the Cowboys began travelling to Oxnard for training camp the city of Oxnard has depended on area volunteers to help the camp run smoothly. Some people use their entire vacation to volunteer to be a part of training camp. I talked to a few volunteers that drive two hours one way just to be a part of camp each year.
The city uses volunteers to work security, food tents, bathroom lines and a variety of other duties.
The Cowboys have started a tradition under Jason Garrett. On one of the last days of training camp, the entire team takes to the fences on the sidelines and signs autographs for the entire volunteer staff.
