From Within

!Mike Hamlin was active for only 6 games as a rookie in '09, but could factor into this years plans.

first time we see Owusu-Ansah in uniform since he'll spend the summer rehabbing his surgically-repaired shoulder.

I know everyone keeps forgetting (either intentionally or unintentionally) about Watkins, but they shouldn't at all. OK, so maybe he doesn't win the starting free safety job, but getting on the 53-man roster is definitely a possibility.

We all know the one way to make a team if you're not starting, and yes, Watkins remains the best special teams player that Joe DeCamillis has. If he's not, it's Alan Ball and this is the guy pegged to be the starter. So something has to give.

And then, let's not forget about a couple of undrafted rookie safeties who could very well work their way into the conversation. Barry Church from Toledo and LSU's Danny McCray at least stood out in the rookie minicamp. If they continue to stand out when the competition gets appreciably better, then the Cowboys will have even more in-house options than they thought.

But from the looks of things right now, all of the options, at least the more logical ones at safety, appear to be from within.
