Mailbag: Would It Be Worth It To Rest Scandrick vs. Chicago? Butler's Impact?

MARCUS SPIKESMISSOURI CITY, TX
I remember the scouting report out of Oakland on Brice Butler was that he was a perpetual preseason All-Star that never really puts it together in the regular season. True to form he seemed to have an outstanding preseason but has yet to really make a mark though i do understand we're 2 games in. What can we really expect from him?

Bryan: Should have had a touchdown in the Redskins game if Dak Prescott doesn't pump the ball when rolling to his right. If he throws the ball when Butler was open - then he beats the great Josh Norman. He was open in the Giants game as well but didn't get the shot.

David:The only receivers on this team you should "expect" anything from are Dez Bryant and Jason Witten. With the rest of them, it's going to depend on the game plan and the coverage – especially while Tony Romo is out of the lineup. I think Butler has great upside. More importantly, I think he'll be affordable to re-sign in the spring. I don't think that's lost on the front office.

DONALD STUBBSTATUM, TX
I watched Scandrick closely this past week and I could tell he was not 100 percent. Now he is dealing with two hamstring injuries. He was beat for a TD on a play that would never happen if he was healthy. Are there any plans to sit him so he can heal before he is lost long term?

Bryan: If he doesn't practice Friday, I'd say there is a chance they sit him. He is really banged up but he's been banged up since training camp. His best medicine is rest, but the NFL doesn't allow that due to the way the games are scheduled.

David: I'd guess this centers around one question – is Scandrick more effective playing injured than Anthony Brown is playing at 100 percent? It's easy to say yes on Thursday, but what about Sunday when the Bears are picking on the rookie cornerback? Personally, I think Brown has looked capable of filling in, and the Cowboys have guys like Byron Jones who can help in a pinch. Giving Scandrick a week off could do wonders for his health in the long-term.
