Romo Misses Practice With Eye Stye; Will Be Evaluated For Saturday

OXNARD, Calif. – Quarterback Tony Romo did not practice Friday afternoon due to a stye around his left eye.

Team officials said Romo would be reevaluated again Saturday morning to determine if he'll be available for the team's first training camp practice in pads.

Brandon Weeden took the first-team reps in Romo's place, with Dustin Vaughan and Jameill Showers taking backup reps

When Romo didn't appear on the field for the start of practice, the fans in attendance might've guessed it was a rest day for the 13th-year veteran. After all, Romo didn't practice more than two consecutive days in training camp last year in his return from offseason back surgery.

The Cowboys, though, don't have a specific practice routine for Romo once his eye clears up. With his back the strongest it's been since surgery at the end of the 2013 season, he participated in virtually every offseason workout this spring.

"As training camp goes on we'll develop that plan based on how he's feeling, how he's handling the workload," head coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday. "You'll probably see him practice a lot, you'll probably see him have some off days. There's nothing structured at this point."
