Scouting Report: New CB McFadden Is Physical, If A Bit Undersized

Name: Leon McFadden
Position: CB
College: San Diego State
Height: 5-10
Weight: 193
Draft: 3rd round, 2013 NFL Draft, by Cleveland

Report: McFadden has talent, being drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He has also made stops with the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants before landing in Dallas.

He can line up on either side of the formation and in the slot, as well. Physically he is not an imposing corner height-wise, but he has some thickness to him. He has quick feet with good reactions, and that footwork helps him stay in position during the route.

McFadden shows the ability to mirror and adjust while in route. He plays with route leverage. I like him more playing press than I do playing off. When he gets his hands on the receiver, it really benefits him. He can play tight to the receiver, as he can turn and run very well. I saw more separation with the receiver when he was playing off. His positioning and adjust just weren't there. I thought he lost his contact.

He does play with a burst to close, and he will drive on the ball in front of him. Will fight hard to contest the slant. Not afraid to come forward. When pass is thrown down the field, he needs to turn his head a little quicker to find the ball. Low, wrap-up tackler.

His best trait is his movement, his worst is his lack of height.
