The Cowboys will face yet another backup at a key position this Sunday.

Only time will tell if that will matter in the final outcome but the Cowboys won't be playing Matthew Stafford, who has been ruled out of the game by Lions head coach Matt Patricia.

Stafford missed last week's game as well after suffering broken bones in his back. Jeff Driskel replaced Stafford against the Bears last week as the Lions lost on the road 20-13.

A graduate of Highland Park in Dallas, Stafford has played his hometown team four times in the regular season, with a 2-2 record. He did lose the 2014 Wild Card game in Arlington to the Cowboys.
