The Hot Corner

Terence Newman - One of the league's best cover corners, he may get his wish to play more man-to-man this season.
Mike Jenkins - Jenkins blogged recently that the stating right cornerback job was his to keep. He made need to show improvement to beat out Scandrick, though.
Orlando Scandrick - It's hard to find fault with much last year's fifth-rounder has done thus far. He could keep the slot duty even if he becomes the starter.
Alan Ball - After playing just two games as a rookie, Ball appeared in 10 last year. Is he ready to step into an even bigger role?
Courtney Brown - A part-time switch to cornerback, which he played in college, could help his chances.
DeAngelo Smith - Special teams coach Joe DeCamillis will look at him on punt returns. That, along with kick coverage and some sub-package work could be his ticket onto the field.
Mike Mickens - They say the knee is good. Now it's just a matter of proving he really does have first-day talent.
Michael Hawkins - A native of nearby Carrollton, Hawkins has cover ability the Cowboys seem to like. Don't be surprised if he pushes for a job.
