After 3 Wins In 12 Days, Cowboys Will Rest Up On "Mini-Bye" This Weekend

FRISCO, Texas – The Cowboys aren't relaxing on the strength of their NFL-best 11-1 record. But they are getting some needed, and well-earned, rest this weekend.

After winning all three games in a 12-day stretch, including Thursday night's 17-15 victory at Minnesota, Cowboys head coach Garrett said the team will have Friday through Sunday off. The only exceptions Friday were the coaching staff working and injured players getting treatment.

"I really think whenever you play these Thursday games you have to view the weekend after it as an opportunity to get refreshed a little bit, almost like a mini-bye," Garrett said, "and get yourself recharged, get everybody physically as well as they can get and then get going again."

With four games remaining, the Cowboys can clinch a playoff berth as early as Sunday with a Tampa Bay loss or tie at San Diego, or a Washington loss at Arizona.

Garrett said the team's day-to-day approach will remain the same, though.

"There's nothing preached more than the importance of focus and focusing on the task at hand and focusing on us and how we can get better," he said. "It's part of our culture here with our football team, and I believe the coaches and players have bought into it. We'll just continue doing that."
