IRVING, Texas --Linked often to the Cowboys at No. 14, there's now talk that Alabama safety Mark Barron could sneak into the top 10 draft picks Thursday night.
Barron isn't the only defensive back possibly rising at the 11th hour. Once considered a late-first to early-second round pick, South Carolina cornerback Stephon Gilmore might jump into that top 10 range, too.
Gilmore has appeal because he's an agile corner with above-average size (nearly 6-1, 190 pounds), and he uses that frame well in run support.
How does Gilmore's stock affect the Cowboys? Maybe he pushes some other targeted prospects closer to them at No. 14. Or if they like Gilmore -- some in the organization probably do -- drafting him would no longer be a trade-down scenario.
Alabama's Dre Kirkpatrick, on the other hand, might be slipping into the late teens or 20s.
