IRVING, Texas --Second-year offensive tackle Sam Young would have been eligible for the Cowboys' practice squad had he cleared waivers Tuesday, but the Buffalo Bills claimed him instead, according to NFL.com.
Young, a sixth-round pick by the Cowboys in 2010, struggled in preseason with a new 330-pound playing weight. The team liked Young's potential, but kept Jermey Parnell as a backup tackle instead.
The Cowboys still have one spot open on their eight-man practice squad, which includes cornerback Mario Butler, fullback Shaun Chapas, linebacker Isaiah Greenhouse, wide receiver Andre Holmes, linebacker Orie Lemon, safety Akwasi Owusu-Ansah and wide receiver Teddy Williams.
Free agent wide receiver Laurent Robinson, whom the Cowboys worked out on Tuesday, is not eligible for the practice squad.
