Brooking Returns, Feels 'Great'; 3 Waived

ARLINGTON, Texas --The Cowboys are getting a bit healthier on both sides of the ball. Linebacker Keith Brooking (hamstring) and running backs Tashard Choice (calf) and DeMarco Murray (hamstring) participated in this morning's walkthrough and the afternoon practice for the first time since training camp began in late July.

Head coach Jason Garrett said the team will monitor each player's progress in practice leading up to Saturday's preseason game at Minnesota.

"Good to be back," Brooking said. "Had to knock some dust off. Good to be back in the pads.

"I was very limited; took 13 total reps, so they're just gradually getting me back in. It's part of the plan. But all in all, my hamstring felt great."

WR Miles Austin also returned after missing last Sunday's Chargers game with a tight hamstring.

CB Mike Jenkins was also out there in the morning, but a neck stinger has kept him out of contact work for the last couple of weeks, including the first two games.

Defensive ends Marcus Spears (groin) and Jason Hatcher did not practice.

Also, the Cowboys have reduced their roster to 83 players by cutting RB Frank Warren, WR James Cleveland and long snapper Corey Adams. They have also officially signed K Shayne Graham.
