Buehler Has Sore Hip; Eyes Thursday Return

ARLINGTON, Texas -- David Buehler hasn't kicked full-time the last two days due to a sore right (kicking) hip, but he hopes to return Thursday when the Cowboys hold a joint practice with the Chargers at Valley Ranch. The team gets a league-mandated day off Wednesday.

Buehler said he tweaked his hip on the third kickoff of team drills Monday. His leg felt warm, so he kicked two more. But it didn't feel right later in practice, so he sat out field goal work.

"It's a little inflamed right now, doesn't feel too comfortable," Buehler said. "But I'm getting treatment, hydrating, doing all the right things."

Buehler made a 42-yard attempt in the preseason opener against Denver and has been more consistent lately than rookie Dan Bailey, who missed four of five combined kicks on Sunday and Monday. Bailey connected on all four tries from 36 yards and in Tuesday.

Special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis says Buehler has found a rhythm after the first two weeks of practice in San Antonio. Buehler agrees, crediting the chance to finally work with kicking coach Chris Boniol again after the lockout.

"I want to be out here," Buehler said. "Coach (Jason) Garrett's all about situational stuff and Dan's getting the reps right now. It's hard to just sit back and watch it because I want to be out there and show them that I can get the job done."
