Carter Still Practicing; Will He Be Active?

IRVING, Texas --Rookie Bruce Carter continues to get some special teams work in practice and has responded well since returning from knee surgery last week.

The question is, will he be activated from Reserve/NFI this week against the Eagles? Although Carter has seemed confident about his availability, head coach Jason Garrett hasn't confirmed anything.

"I think he's doing a good job," Garrett said Wednesday. "He's been on the sidelines, running, and everybody's been optimistic about that, but it's different once you get out there and you start playing with the people around you and you're stopping and starting and having to move spontaneously.

"I think he's getting himself back into the football mode. He had a good week last week, and we'll just keep evaluating him and see how he progresses."

One hitch could be the status of punter Mat McBriar. If McBriar's foot injury keeps him out this week, the Cowboys might have to cut a player to sign another punter and wait to activate Carter.
