Cowboys Add Linebacker Depth, Sign Keith Smith To 53-Man Roster

IRVING, Texas – Clearly in need of linebacker depth, the Cowboys signed Keith Smith from the practice squad to the 53-man roster on Saturday.

Three of the Cowboys' top linebackers are on the injury report this week: Sean Lee (concussion) has been ruled out of Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, and Rolando McClain (hand/foot) and Anthony Hitchens (ankle) are listed as questionable.

The Cowboys created an open roster spot earlier this week by waiving quarterback Kellen Moore, who has since signed back to the practice squad. Rookie Mark Nzeocha, who recently returned to practice, was an option for linebacker depth this week, but he remains on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list.

Smith appeared in the Cowboys' first four games, making one special teams tackle, before he was waived Oct. 5 and subsequently signed to the practice squad.
