FRISCO, Texas — No need to sugarcoat it. Fact is, the Dallas Cowboys haven't defeated the Denver Broncos since before the fifth Lombardi trophy made its way to the Metroplex. Yes, it's been that long, falling to the Broncos each and every time since 1995, and that's a drought Brian Schottenheimer wants to end while Sean Payton tries to keep it rolling along.
Payton is hot off of the biggest comeback in the NFL this season, using a 33-point explosion to track down the New York Giants for a narrow victory in Week 7. Things were wildly different in Dallas though, where the Cowboys were soundly dismantling Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders; and in all phases of the game, including defense.
WHEN AND WHERE:
Date: Sunday, Oct. 26
Time: 3:35 p.m. CT
Location: Empower Field at Mile High (Denver, CO)
Can the Cowboys' defense replicate that rare success against Bo Nix and his weapons?
That is a headline in and of itself, but certainly not the only one, considering Javonte Williams returns to face his former team and for an offense that has proven to be unstoppable at times — Dak Prescott operating at an MVP level with a stable of weapons that include CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.
That seemingly unstoppable force meets the immovable object by way of the Broncos defense, however, one of the best in the league at terrorizing opponent quarterbacks.
Something's gotta give, and it will.
